What to eat in Imsouane
Fish from the morning boats, tagines that take their time, and far too much mint tea.

Eating well is one of the great pleasures of a stay here. The rhythm is simple: a big breakfast, a long lunch, and dinner shared with whoever is around.
Fresh fish
When the boats come in, the catch goes straight to the harbour. Grilled fish with bread, salad and a squeeze of lemon is the essential Imsouane meal. Ask what came in today.
Tagine
Named after the conical clay pot it is slow-cooked in. Chicken with preserved lemon and olives, beef with prunes, or vegetables — every cook has their own way.
Couscous
Traditionally a Friday dish, steamed and served with vegetables and meat or fish. If you are lucky enough to be invited, go.
Breakfast
Expect breads like msemen and harcha, olive oil, honey, eggs and fresh orange juice. Try amlou — a spread of argan oil, almonds and honey from this part of Morocco.
Mint tea
Green tea, fresh mint, and usually a good deal of sugar, poured from a height. You can ask for less sugar ("bla sukkar" for none).
Eating out
The village has a handful of simple cafés and restaurants. Prices are usually displayed or easy to ask; confirm before you order if not. Dietary needs? Tell us in advance and we will help you navigate.
Our favourite food spots right now
We are bringing you some of our favourite food spots in Imsouane.
We love good food and discovering new places, so here are a few spots we think are worth trying while you are here.
Brunch with the view. Our favourite cookie and coffee. Chill after surf. Sunset pizza on the Moroccan coastline, with no stress — that is one of our favourite evenings.
More food tips coming soon. When you are here with us, food is part of the week: traditional breakfast and dinner every day, a pizza night at an authentic Moroccan restaurant with an ocean view, and a couscous night with live music.
