When the tide slows down and the whole retreat learns to trim instead of hurry.

The Longboard Hour began before the first full light reached the bay. When the tide slows down and the whole retreat learns to trim instead of hurry. The village was still mostly quiet, but the surf house had already started its small morning choreography: boards coming down from the rack, coffee cooling on the counter, and someone checking the wind from the terrace.

We walked slowly because no one wanted to break the spell too early. Imsouane has a way of making time feel visible; the tide line, the fishing boats, the sand on our ankles, all of it marks where the day has been. In the water, the lesson was not force. It was patience, reading the shoulder, and letting the wave do more of the work.

By the time we returned, the story had become ordinary in the best possible way. There were wet sleeves on the rail, wax on fingertips, and a few quiet smiles from people who had surprised themselves. That is the part we keep building the retreat around: not spectacle, but the moment a guest starts to trust her own timing.
